The Equal Rights Amendment: Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

Section 1: Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.
Section 2:  The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.
Section 3:  This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification

We are proud that Nevada led the way in reenergizing the ERA movement, after 45 years, when we became the 36th state to ratify in 2017 thanks to Sen. Pat Spearman and Nevada activists. It has been almost 100 years since Alice Paul first presented it to Congress.

The activists with the National Organization for Women have made the ERA a core issue since we formed in 1967.

It is past time for women to have Constitutional Equality. However, we still need help to get the 28th Amendment published and that is where we need your help today.

Actions To Take

  • Urge the archivist to publish the ERA “forthwith” as is their legally mandated duty

  • Urge President Biden to remove the 2020 OLC memo and direct the Archivist to publish the ERA

  • Urge the DOJ to rescind its legally flawed and partisan memo intended to block ERA

  • Introduce/cosponsor a resolution in the Senate declaring the ERA as the 28th Amendment

  • Support/encourage colleagues in the Senate to support SJRes 1 to remove the deadline

  • Write your representative in support of H.Res.891

    • Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the article of amendment (commonly known as the "Equal Rights Amendment") to the Constitution is valid.
